Your summer vacation is coming up, and you couldn’t be more excited! Even though vacations are a time for relaxation and indulgence, it’s important to know that you can enjoy your trip while still staying on track with your health goals.

Take a look at these simple tips to stay active while on vacation.

Pack small exercise equipment

Every suitcase can fit an extra item or two.

Try packing a resistance band, a jump rope, or a yoga mat. These lightweight, portable exercise tools can help you fit in a quick and effective workout, no matter where you are.

Choose fun and fit activities

Many traditional activities that people participate in while on vacation are also great for your body!

Swimming, hiking, skiing or even just exploring a new city by foot are great ways to get moving on your trip. Try fitting in at least one fun and active adventure every day.

Turn the airport into a gym

One of the most dreaded parts of a trip is all the time spent in the airport.

Instead of just sitting around (you’ll do plenty of that on the plane!), try finding small ways to be active. Skip the moving sidewalk and walk up and down the terminals.

Even better, find an abandoned terminal and do some basic exercises (squats, push-ups or yoga are all good choices).

Book hotels with fitness centers

A quick check online will show you which hotels have a room dedicated to treadmills and dumbbells. While you certainly don’t want to spend your entire vacation locked in this room, it’s good to have the option to fit in a quick workout before you begin your adventures for the day.
